The Adams County Board of Commissioners has an excellent record of balancing development with important quality-of-life issues for county citizens. Over $6.3 million in open space grants were approved in 2008. One grant will be used to preserve farmland along historic Riverdale Road. Several of the grants will be used to construct new trails throughout Adams County, creating new recreation opportunities for residents as communities within Adams County are connected. The Elaine T. Valente Open Space Preservation was dedicated in 2007.
